Renovation of the Nationally Significant Historic Council House at the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

People Plan Community supported the complete renovation of the Nationally Significant Historic Council House at the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation from 2021 to 2024 in a volunteer capacity, which included fundraising 1.125M towards the initiative as well as completing requisite grant reporting. For this work, People Plan Community was the recipient of the National Heritage Trust of Canada Award in 2023.  

People Plan Community provided fundraising and planning support for the renovation of the historic Council House at the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This nationally award winning project combined heritage conservation, community engagement, and organizational planning to revitalize a central cultural landmark. This work took the space from a condemned and closed building back to serving as a gathering place and traditional governance centre for the First Nation.

Focus: Supporting heritage renewal and community leadership through planning and facilitation.

Environmental Planning Unit Framework

In 2020, People Plan Community created an Environmental Unit Framework for the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The Framework established clear goals, structures, and roles to help the Department of Consultation and Accommodation meet its constitutional consultation and engagement responsibilities.
